Dhaka Drama was created in 1996 to keep the tradition of practicing Bangla theater abroad. The organization is New York City based. Some members of the group theater movement of Bangladesh who are living in the USA created the organization to practice and promote Bangla drama entertainment in USA. It has been actively produced many plays since 1996. Through stage productions, Dhaka Drama has contributed to several disaster relief funds and Bangladesh Cancer Hospital. The group has also participated in several theater related programs and collaborated with Epic Actor’s Workshop performed in New York.
Each year, Dhaka Drama has been celebrating World Theater Day in New York City, with participation from local theater groups. The group also arrange panel discussion, talent competition for young actors etc.
