The mission New York City Bangladesh Civil Service Society is to move forward the heritage, culture, and interests of the Bangladeshi Community in the greater arena of the American Society. Back in late 2003, a small group of New York City employees met at the residence of Mr. M. Bhuiyan with the goal to organize city employees of Bangladesh origin into a forum. The felt need was underscored by an emerging trend in the number of Bangladeshis participating in various City, State and Federal job, the proven track record of those already involved in public sectors, and prospects of a greater participation of Bangladeshis in public job markets.
