Guild of Bangladeshi Restaurateurs (Guild of Bangladeshi Restaurateurs of Scotland) is an organization of Bangladeshi restaurant owners and caterers in Surry, UK. Founded in 1994, Guild of Bangladeshi Restaurateurs is membership based organization to work to protect the interest of Bangladeshi restaurant businesses in UK, including Scotland and Wales as well as England. The primary role of the guild is to lobby the British government, both nationally and at a local level, representing the views of the curry industry to decision makers and legislators.
Aims and objectives:
to safeguard the interests of restaurateurs and get key messages across to Government
to promote and improve of the standard of spice restaurants
to address the issues of shortage of chefs in the industry
to unite the Bangladeshi Restaurateurs under one umbrella to speak with one voice
to campaign for favorable immigration rules and regulation for the industry chefs and workers
Guild of Bangladeshi Restaurateurs has several branches (South East, Central Midland, Thames Valley, Buckinghamshire, Wales, Herfordshire, Central London, Scotland, West Midland and Staffordshire). Branch activities include formal meetings, seminars and study days, catering supplier demonstration, exhibitions, and social events where members get the opportunity to keep up-to-date with current issues including regular updates on forthcoming legislation, as well as to meet their peers. Annual membership fee is £85.00.
The association publishes a Spice Business Magazine to spread the awareness among the members and patrons. However, the last issue of the magazine was printed in 2013.
