Established in 2000, Betar Bangla is a Community Radio project, serving the Bangladeshi community of East London. Betar Bangla is the first radio station to serve the Bangladeshi community in the UK! Betar Bangla set out to engage with its listeners by designing programs for closely integrated community of Bangladeshis through radio programing in 1503 AM/MW. The company broadcasts programs online so that it can be accessible to more Bangladeshi people. Betar Bangla programs can be listen 24-hours every day. People working at radio station are mostly volunteer and they work as presenters, technicians, events organizers and researchers. Apart from broadcasting, Betar Bangla provides training to those interested in pursuing careers in radio, film, new media and the creative industry.
The company broadcasts programs for all kinds of audience: from religious minded people to music minded people. Its programs cover news, current affairs, music, literary work, health and fitness, legal and citizen rights etc.
